Skaterstoolkit an themed Instagram page came to existence as way for me to learn how to grow an account from scratch and how to manage community.

Research a niche – Culture

The niche I choose was Skate culture, skaters are known for their laidback attitude. This community is very welcoming but there is something skaters don’t tolerate that is a Poser. Posers are essentially someone that pretends to be good at skating and know a lot about the culture.

Building the profile

The main things I included in the page to make it resonate with the audition were Curated content not only for beginners that wanted to learn tricks – culture but also address the “Poser” stigma.

Image creation

When developing the image of skaterstoolkit I wanted it to reflect the ideas behind it, that’s why it’s a figure getting smacked with a stake saying F#ck Posers it all comes back to the no posers allowed mentality.

Community submissions

This is something that is very beneficial for you page because it builds rapport with your community. You get content to post and then the recognition. This separates your pages that was real people from the other that strictly repost content.

Growth strat

When I started the page the “Follow for Follow” strategy was the one I choose – just a side note this is only viable to kickstart your page – after that is when the community submissions start to help, most people that submit a post also tend to share them with their friends. Finally, of course, content is king. The better your content the more engagement you get and with that more visibility.
